For those who like to build their custom dashboard, this 12V Cigarette Lighter Socket will do the job well.
This marine-grade socket is constructed to withstand extreme environments including high-vibration applications. The terminals and contact surfaces are all nickel over brass and the socket has a waterproof tight-fitting sealing cap on a flexible strap.
They are also true locking sockets. When a locking plug is inserted and then twisted it will be locked in place so it won't come off by vibrations.
Mounting can be done on any surface, dashboard, or bracket, simply through a 1" 1/8 hole and secured in with the back nut. It can be mounted against a panel with the retaining nut on panels up to 1-1/4" thick (30mm).
The socket also has two female 0.250 male spade-type terminals that are marked (+) and minus (-) for easy identification.
The socket is rated for 15 amps at 12 volts. Draws no power when not in use, so it can't run down your battery.
Note: Not for hot cigarette lighter plug use.
