Are you planning a new final transmission with a smaller sprocket and maybe replacing the stock 15T with a 14T or 13T?
It's a standard change to get more torque and accessible slow-speed capabilities out of your Suzuki DR650 for technical riding.
The stocker doesn't work well with any sprockets smaller than 15T. The chain will rest on the plate, rub on the metal and eventually wreck it dangerously or not engage the teeth well.
We decided to make our own sprocket retainer, precision cut with a laser CNC that will fit just right. It's much smaller than the OEM plate, and this retainer works with all 3-holes 13T, 14T, 15T and 16T DR650 sprocket.
Regardless of using the 525 stock chain or 520 conversions, as long as the sprocket you choose uses the same 3-bolt pattern.
For example, you can use JT Sprocket references:
In 525 width: JTF1448 (available in 13, 14, 15T) in 520 widths, but with a broad base for better hold on the shaft: JTF438 (available in 14, 15T) is highly recommended.
