You don't need to cut the balls off to clear aftermarket handguards. They are short enough (3 fingers or 1/2 inch shorter than stock).
 
The kit includes new pivot bolts and a Teflon-lined Warp9 billet clamp to help the brake master cylinder rotate in the event of a crash.

Note:
 Included pivot bolts will not hold the stock wind deflectors; reuse stock or get aftermarket handguards (recommended).
 Clutch lever may not work reliably with clutch safety switch on 2010 and later models (bypassing it is recommended for long term reliability anyway)
