Spring thrust bearing 
 
The remote Compression Control Reservoir (CCR) separated from the main body holds additional fluid capacity and contains a damping control valve with engineered ports acting on deflective disks. This provides optimized internal shock pressures as well as providing a rider-adjustable compression damping.
 
The CCR technology is far superior to most “high and low speed” adjustable shocks.
 
Spring recommendations:
 
The 7.6 kg/mm spring is the standard choice for 95% of riders.
It is ideal if you weigh under 250 pounds (without gear), but it works well if you don’t often ride with luggage or passengers.
 
The 8.1 kg/mm spring is recommended if:
You regularly carry pannier boxes and/or a passenger, or weigh over 250 pounds. 
 
Note: Spring colour and exact rate can vary depending on availability from the manufacturer.
Shocks can be assembled with yellow Ohlins 7.6 kg/mm or red Eibach 7.1 kg/mm springs, and the pre-load is set accordingly, so it makes no difference.
