Not only will you prevent any harmful contaminants from getting into your engine with a transparent inline fuel filter, but it's a convenient way to check you have fuel effectively flowing.

Most fuel filters marketed for off-road use are too big to fit in the tiny space left with a large tank between the petcock and the carburetor. This small disc design fits easily but still carries a much larger filtration surface than most. Our kit includes everything you need, even the vacuum cap to block off the port on your BST40 carburetor (Suzuki DR650 may fit other carbs, see Note below).
 
Ditch the cheap ass fuel line, which becomes brittle after a year or freezes solid when the temperature drops. We use a high-quality reinforced line from Gates and provide x4 stainless steel wire clamps.
 
If you want to run two petcocks on your tank for easy drainage, choose the Double Petcock option to add an extra 12" of line and a quality stainless T fitting. Avoid a flimsy plastic T-connector that will crack and spill fuel over the engine.
 
Note: Aftermarket petcocks like the Acerbis versions are simple ON/OFF/RESERVE devices and do not use the carb's vacuum line for Auto ON/OFF like the stock petcock. We personally love them for their simplicity and reliability.
